![]() ![]() But I’ve been waiting since the end of December. I genuinely hoped to publish this review after the patch was live to see if every bug had been fixed. ![]() Kudos to them in that they supposedly found my issue(s) just over a week later and sent a patch to Nintendo. I reached out to the publishers, who looked into a fix. Within ten more minutes, I froze the third and (until a patch) final time. Fool me once Freddy, shame on you, fool me twice… But I genuinely wanted the adventure to continue. I had to reset the game both times.Īfter the second freeze, I was hesitant to try again. The second time was on a staircase with no visible scenery surrounding me. Once was on an object in the opening level, no less. Within the first fifteen minutes, I got Freddy stuck twice. And I’m not just talking about subpar collision detection. The levels have invisible walls, presumably to keep you on the right track. I laughed out loud on a couple of occasions. Freddy moves everywhere in a comical fashion, and the unique (though sometimes repetitive) levels only add to the humor of the game. Not that I know how a noodle might jump or run, but this seems about as realistic as I might expect. One of the game’s features is “Physics all over the place.” I respect the truth in advertising. P Starr this is a great touch and a real asset to this adventure. A laboratory experiment, Freddy’s adventures are narrated by his creator, Dr. You play as the titular piece of pasta, not the Parks & Rec character. While we’re promised that “No pastas were harmed in the making of this game,” I have my doubts. Freddy Spaghetti has so much promise, but multiple glitches ruin the fun.

![]() The other lets you cycle through the armoury you've got stuffed in your pocket. One of these lets you pick up weapons, open and close doors, and pick up loot. In the bottom right hand corner you've got two buttons. The left of the screen acts as a joystick that moves you around. And thankfully the touchscreen controls let you do just that. This is very much the sort of game where running away is often the smartest option. You've often got a choice of places to park up and raid, and you're shown a zombie forecast before you storm in that lets you know how tough a scrap you're looking at. And supplies are hard to come by in an America ravaged by slobbering corpses that want nothing more than to munch your face off. You and up to a car-full of allies are trying to make it to Canada, which is apparently free from the undead plague.īut you're going to need supplies to make it up the so-called Death Road. If you're not familiar with the game, it's essentially a dungeon crawler with a modern, zombie-filled twist. It's here in spades, and the port to mobile hasn't stolen away too much of the game's playability either. What I'm trying to say is that everything you loved about the PC version of Death Road is still here. Plus my main character has a trait that makes her more annoying to the others sharing her car in this gore-splattered road trip through a thick pixel-ed, randomly generated rendition of America. What truly matters is that we can finally be together - and I can’t ever imagine a day where that won’t be the case again.Within 20 minutes of starting Death Road to Canada I've already thrown an American flag at a group of dribbling retro flesh munchers, walked into a bathroom full of the undead, and sworn more times than I can count. It’s all stuff I’m more than happy to accept, because I enjoy spending time with you so - but it did take me a bit too much scrutinizing to realize my character was wearing an eyepatch and then figure out which glasses option left their eyes unobstructed. I would also be remiss if I wasn’t truthful in admitting that sometimes (only sometimes) playing you on a smaller screen can make discerning important visual information (like what shelves have items on them or smaller details in the character creator) an issue as well. Never enough to truly make me think less of you, of course, but occasionally getting stuck on corners when trying to outrun a zombie horde, or not being able to close a door behind me because my character slid out of position on their own, are notable blemishes. It’s all glorious.Īnd with so many variables, like random events and locations to explore, plus all of the different modes offered, I feel like I could play you forever.īut relationships are built on trust, so I must be honest with you: your controls can feel a bit clunky at times. The way survivors will get tired if they attack with a melee weapon too often and too fast the way that obviously heavy weapons tire them out much faster the fact that I don’t just create myself and my friends in the character creator, but that I can save those creations and call upon them over and over again that you offer me a game mode where my created characters appear often as other recruitable survivors during my travels the (eerily accurate the more I think about it) way that characters interact with each other the almost organic way things can go from “this isn’t so bad” to “OMG why is everybody dead?” in a heartbeat. If I want to avoid looking in a building entirely, well, you won’t make me. If I want to try and lead a group of zombies outside of a store and loop back so I can search in relative peace, you give me that opportunity. I enjoy every nail-biting moment spent trying to find hidden caches while avoiding cannibalistic hordes because I’m in direct control. The way you let me lead my small team of survivors around in real time as I search desperately for supplies, in a manner similar to an action-adventure game, is sublime. Yet while your inspiration is obvious, what’s even more of an inspiration is how you’ve taken such a recognizable and beloved framework and made it your own. Of course, how could you? You follow in the footsteps of classic - dare I say timeless - games about crossing the country and not dying horribly along the way. Now I can play you, and have played you, on my phone - and you did not disappoint. Sure I could have played you when you came out on Steam, but alas, I was selfish and gave priority to available hard drive space.īut the time for lamenting my abstinence, has passed. How I’ve longed for getting digital facsimiles of myself and my friends killed as I clumsily try to make my way through your particular brand of zombie apocalypse. It's a very good low light camera, but at half the resolution of the Darkfighter. The only Bosch low light unit I have here at the moment is an original 720p Starlight. I don't sell anything to anyone, but I do test a lot of cameras. Even the latest Bosch 8000 12MP (which is not a low light camera by any means) performed almost as well as a Darkfighter in real low-light conditions and the 5MP Starlight ate it for breakfast. For what I paid for the Darkfighters, I could actually get some nice Bosch units for roughly the same price that perform roughly 4 times better in low light and challenging light conditions. These cameras were expensive and a complete waste of money. If you want a real low light camera, you'll have to go to a real manufacturer and pay real low light camera prices. no, on second thought the cameras don't actually have anything to recommend them. The specs are a total fabrication and its idea of "software WDR" isn't worth the paper its written on. I've come to the conclusion that the Darkfighter light specs are rated at a shutter speed of 1S (in other words completely useless in the real world) and it's rated dynamic range of 120dB is more like 120dB PMPO (realistically somewhere in the order of 70-80dB). I also have several real low light cameras (from Bosch Starlight through to a neat special unit with a 1" imager and a couple of nice loan units I'm not allowed to talk about yet). ![]() Deal with treasonous generals, devious witches and corrupt royalty to provide dark and dangerous services.Traverse a fantastical open world: explore forgotten ruins, caves and shipwrecks, trade with merchants and dwarven smiths in cities, and hunt across the open plains, mountains and seas.Invest your rewards to upgrade your weaponry and buy custom armour, or spend them away in horse races, card games, fist fighting, and other pleasures the night brings.ĮXPLORE A MORALLY INDIFFERENT FANTASY OPEN WORLDīuilt for endless adventure, the massive open world of The Witcher sets new standards in terms of size, depth and complexity.Hunt down a wide range of exotic monsters - from savage beasts prowling the mountain passes, to cunning supernatural predators lurking in the shadows of densely populated towns.Gruesomely destroy foes as a professional monster hunter armed with a range of upgradeable weapons, mutating potions and combat magic.Trained from early childhood and mutated to gain superhuman skills, strength and reflexes, witchers are a counterbalance to the monster-infested world in which they live. Laptop computers were designed to be used for short periods of time when a person couldn’t access a desktop computer. Injuries from laptop computersThe growing use of laptop computers has caused more pains, strains and injuries among computer users. Have regular eye examinations to check that any blurring, headaches and other associated problems are not caused by any underlying disorders.Frequently look away from the screen and focus on faraway objects.Reduce the contrast and brightness of your screen by adjusting the controls.Put the screen either at eye level or slightly lower.Make sure the screen is not too close to your face.Tilt the screen slightly to avoid reflections or glare. ![]() Make sure your main source of light (such as a window) is not shining into your face or directly onto the computer screen.Preventing eyestrain from computer useTips to avoid eyestrain include: Although there is no evidence that eye fatigue damages your eyesight, computer users may get symptoms such as blurred vision, temporary inability to focus on faraway objects and headaches. The illuminated computer screen can also cause eye fatigue. The human eye structurally prefers to look at objects more than six metres away, so any work performed close up puts extra demands on your eye muscles. Remove your hands from the keyboard when not actively typing, to let your arms relax.Įyestrain from computer useFocusing your eyes at the same distance point for long periods of time causes fatigue.Mix your tasks to avoid long, uninterrupted stretches of using the computer.Use your whole arm, not just your wrist, when using the mouse.Position the mouse as close as possible to the side of the keyboard.Have your mouse at the same height as your correctly positioned keyboard.Preventing computer-related overuse injuriesTips to avoid overuse injuries of the hand or arm include: Symptoms of these overuse injuries include pain, swelling, stiffness of the joints, weakness and numbness. This is known as ‘overuse injury’ and typically occurs in the elbow, wrist or hand of computer users. Stand often.Ĭomputer-related overuse injuries of the hand or armMuscles and tendons can become painful with repetitive movements and awkward postures. Take frequent short breaks and go for a walk, or do stretching exercises at your desk.Use an ergonomic keyboard so that your hands and wrists are in a more natural position.Use an ergonomic chair, specially designed to help your spine hold its natural curve while sitting.Adjust your chair so that your feet rest flat on the floor, or use a footstool.Your forearms should be roughly parallel with the floor and level with the keyboard. Have your keyboard at a height that lets your elbows rest comfortably at your sides.Have the computer monitor (screen) either at eye level or slightly lower.Sit at an adjustable desk specially designed for use with computers.Preventing computer-related muscle and joint injuriesTips to avoid muscle and joint problems include: If a workstation is not set up properly, these steady positions can put even greater stress on your muscles and joints. This reduces circulation of blood to your muscles, bones, tendons and ligaments, sometimes leading to stiffness and pain. Such muscle and joint problems can be caused or made worse by poor workstation (desk) design, bad posture and sitting for long periods of time.Īlthough sitting requires less muscular effort than standing, it still causes physical fatigue (tiredness) and you need to hold parts of your body steady for long periods of time. Posture-related injuries from computer useBack and neck pain, headaches, and shoulder and arm pain are common computer-related injuries. You can reduce or avoid these risks with the correct furniture, better posture and good habits, such as taking rest breaks and restricting time spent playing computer games. Inappropriate computer use can cause muscle and joint pain, overuse injuries of the shoulder, arm, wrist or hand, and eyestrain.Ĭhildren can experience particular physical and psychological problems if they play computer games too much. The battery is somehow 'part of the circuit' even when running on mains power. The only problem I've ever had with CyberPower UPS units is when the voltage dies across the battery the UPS dies with em. Luckily I had a spare UPS I could immediately deploy, but the QC issues (even if it was an isolated incident) and lack of response has been entirely frustrating, especially considering the potential for damage/injury this could have caused! I have called multiple times since then, and started a claim on their website, but still no return call or email yet. ![]() The claims department was apparently not taking calls, so I spoke with a general CSR, and left a message. I called CyberPower to start a claims process on Friday. Luckily I had a large bag of baking soda to neutralize the acid before any major damage occurred, but this was definitely a surprising and somewhat scary situation. I pulled open the battery compartment before I realized that the SLA batteries were no longer 'sealed', and had leaked battery acid all over the UPS case, and now my hands and arms. I pulled the unit to check on the batteries, and noticed there was a sticky substance covering the lower sides and bottom of the unit. ![]() To my surprise, the UPS immediately shut down when mains power was removed.
